𝗢𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁 𝟮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝟲𝟮-𝟱 𝗔-𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺....𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁

It was a cold blustery day in the land of the highly esteemed White Rat brewery.

We picked a team with very strong backs but was sadly lacking in the forwards. This with the late arrival of Campbell, after kick off. Plus top try scorer Eddie Newman pulling out with projectile vomiting, caused a few problems. It gave way for Tannaj Simpson to start on his debut. Harry Granger also popped over for a game on his Saturday off.

The game kicked off, due to some lovely play by the inside backs and some big runs from Niall, we sustained 10 minutes of heavy pressure. We also dominated heavily at scrum time. Sadly we fell just short of scoring any actual points.

They then regathered and came back at us. Their big pack breaking the game line time and time again. Some silky skills in their backs allowed them to cross on the 15 minute mark. They then scored another three unreturned tries. Mainly due to our lads getting stripped of the ball over and over again. 5 minutes from the break we gained some territory and possession and surged forward over and over again eventually finishing with Steve Blakey charging into three forwards before performing a lovely pirouette to roll out of the arms of the multiple tacklers for the touchdown! Simply beautiful. Sadly they then got the upper hand again and scored another try before halftime. This was too much for seasoned veteran Spike who left the pitch with a dislocated spine.

The riot act was read and the forwards were told to learn to tackle and ruck. Sadly the second half we conceded a lot of points with no real upsides. Freddie our Samoan 12 however had a glittering performance. Single handedly out tackling the entire back row as well as looking pretty good in attack. Niall looked strong at scrum time and with ball in hand. Ozzy didn’t look too out of place at 7. Tannaj improved drastically in 80 mins. Blakey complimented his try with a couple of big shots. It’s just a shame we couldn’t tackle or ruck.
