A change in fortunes for our 2XI who welcomed Sandal CC to Queens Terrace for the 1st Round of the Priestley Shield. Once again we won the toss and elected to bat, a great start with the first wicket falling at 80-1, Dan Busfield 31 (John Mosby), Michael Edwards 33 (Socontented), Joe Finnigan 34 (Alex Page) set up the innings to perfection. The birthday boy, James Stringer (Thornton Jones Solicitors), and Seb Stannell (Service Metals) both starred with unbeaten scores of 56 — marking each of their maiden half-centuries in senior cricket. With a target of 264 to chase Sandal CC started well but the first wicket fell at 56, and at 122-2 wickets began falling at regular intervals with Seb Stannell taking 5 wickets from 8 overs for 31 runs to complete an outstanding performance. 2 wickets from Luke Watson (Brick Bond Northern Ltd) & 1 each from Dan Busfield & Harry Henson restricted Sandal to 197-9 from their allotted overs, falling short by 67 runs.
