  10. 🏏🏏🏏Fortunes changed this week with two defeats. The 1XI welcomed Townville Cricket Club to Queens Terrace yesterday, after a ceremony to officially name the balcony & changing rooms after our former President Bob Schofield Townville took to the field. 5 wickets for Dushan Vimukthi took its toll and we were restricted to 139 all out. Only Callum Geldart 41 sponsored by H&S Horticulture & Rohan Mehmi 34 were effective against the Townville attack. After the break Junaid Khan 21-1 had an early breakthrough but a second wicket partnership of 103 took its toll. A consolation wicket each for Henry Pearson 26-1 & Calum Geldart 13-1 couldn’t stop Townville winning by 7 wickets. Over at Altofts Cricket Club the 2XI were put into the field after losing the toss. At 3 wickets for 9 runs we looked to be having the best start to the match but a 4th wicket stand of 72 & a 5th wicket stand of 47 slowly put Altofts in a good position finally being restricted to 190-9. Today’s bowling superstars were Dan Busfield 47-5 sponsored by Simon Betty, Head Coach at Ossett Rugby & Lee Stevenson 52-3, sponsored by Thornton Jones Solicitors. After the break James Finnigan 45, sponsored by Mr L Finnigan, Jack Stevenson 37, sponsored by Thornton Jones Solicitors & Dan Busfield 32 were the most successful of the Ossett lineup but the allotted overs ended too soon. Luke Watson 10* & Jack Lamb 5* despite their valiant attempt couldn’t get us over the line, losing by 17 runs. The 1XI play again today in the Priestley Cup at Sandal Cricket Club.
