BATLEY Boys and Birstall Victoria have celebrated this week after making it a Heavy Woollen title double in the Yorkshire League.

The Boys have finished their league programme in the First Division and now prepare for the Jim Brown Cup final and the top-four play-offs as they go in search of a trophy treble for the first time for many years.

Victoria have two league games remaining in Division Two before they turn their attentions to the top-four play-offs and the John Kane Cup final.

The Vic play the first of their remaining league games, against Ossett Trinity at White Lee on Saturday (2.30pm) and there is a good deal at stake. This is Ossett's final game and victory would see them clinch promotion in second place and they will figure in the play-offs anyway.

Shaw Cross A have given themselves a lifeline after looking down and out at the foot of Division Three. They have beaten the top two in the last fortnight and now need only one win from their remaining two fixtures to avoid relegation.

The division has only eight clubs after two dropped out and if Cross win both games they could be in the play-offs. They start their attempt against fourth-placed Featherstone Lions at Leeds Road on Saturday. The visitors need to win to reach the play-offs themselves.
