π Thank you for your responses so far to our 'Meet Your Neighbour' feature. It's been great to read about you guys and get to know our Community better. We can't wait to publish the first one so that you can read it! Also, it turns out that not everyone is a dog-person - who knew! π€·ββοΈπ π Thank you for your responses so far to our 'Meet Your Neighbour' feature. See below a nice piece from RC Bagnes in Switzerland. Directly below is a brief potted history on them. RC Bagnes in it's small history was created in 2019 and has continued to exceed all expectations. Through hard working members, out the box thinking style from committee members, And a strong community backing. As a new club we start in the D league of Switzerland, but have great ambitions to progress much, much further!! Bagnes is situated in Valais Switzerland, it is home to Verbier, a ski resort which houses a large population of 'ex-pats' and other surrounding communities such as Le Chable. The club grew from strength to strength when the committee was formed. Ideas to maximise the clubs growth such as children's sessions were ran and touch rugby was implemented. The club hit stumbling blocks when a rather stiff backed football team in the local area blocked out a lot of the pitch space, and the local council is yet to learn about the benefits of the sport of rugby. Therefore members had to come up with other ways to grow the club. Luckily another club from Valais have provided us with a pitch for our XV's home fixtures for the 2020 / 21 season. The turf is well worth the 45 minute commute. Another huge support has been Ossett RFU who have supplied training equipment such as tackle pads, tackle suits and a full kit after our own was delayed due to the covid crisis. Local businesses such as Hotel Farinet, Verbier Green and Axa Verbier have fronted a cash flow to invest in other equipment. Our drive as a young club will continue, our aim is to develop the game in Switzerland and show the local Swiss people what amazing benefits having a rugby club near by can have. We look forward to creating a pitch in which all ages can enjoy and an environment in which locals and expats can come together. We have players from all across the world coming together. Players from, Argentina, Scotland, England, Switzerland, Wales, France, Zimbabwe and of course YORKSHIRE!! We would like to extend our thanks to all supporters of the club, especially our dear friends at Ossett along with our key sponsors. We luck forward to welcoming you for a game, pint or some grub in the near future. So one question unanswered is how did we, Rc Bagnes end up wearing a @ossettrugby kit? Here is the answer. During the covid crisis there has been a major delay on our new kit. It is due to arrive any day now, but In the meantime we needed a solution. Ossett, our dear friends from Yorkshire have been right by our side since day one, donating tackle shields and other training equipment. They also created a hardship fund for their own members during the difficult covid times, basically their charitable nature spreads far and wide. Therefore, we knew when we came knocking with a huge favor, they would provide the goods. What started as a plea by ex Ossett player, now Buck @nick__golden for any old kit, ended with a full set of beautifully made kits arrive within a week. We cant thank Ossett Rugby enough for their continued support ππͺ #OneClub #BackTheBucks View the full article
