📊 NORTHERN DIVISION PLAYER OF THE TERM

Tcherno Djalo (Mossley AFC), Jamie Whittaker (Runcorn Linnets Football Club), James Tetley (Brighouse Town Football Club) and Carl Clarkson (Ossett United FC) have all been nominated for the ESPFA Northern Division ‘Player of the Term’.

Tcherno Djalo – Mossley AFC – Midfield

A classy, skilful midfield player who has been very influential in Mossley's success so far this season which sees them sit at the top of the Northern Division. Djalo has scored four goals in five games from central midfield including a brace in #MatchweekFive against Runcorn that earned him a spot on the ESPFA Team of the Week.

Jamie Whittaker – Runcorn Linnets Football Club – Midfield

Whittaker is a strong, tall and imposing figure in the midfield line for Runcorn with skills and technique to match. He has helped his side climb to second in the division, just one point behind Mossley and has also been included in the ESPFA Team of the Week in #MatchweekFour.

James Tetley – Brighouse Town Football Club – Defence/Midfield

Having featured in central midfield and at right-back this season, Tetley is a versatile player that can read the game very well, can pick a pass and is not afraid to put a tackle in. He has been nominated for the ESPFA ‘Team of the Week’ on three occasions so far this season and was named as the ‘Player of the Week’ in #MatchweekFive.

Carl Clarkson – Ossett United FC – Striker

Ossett United’s main Talisman and captain, Carl Clarkson has enjoyed some brilliant form this season having scored five goals in three games including a hattrick in #MatchweekTwo over West-Yorkshire rivals Brighouse Town. Clarkson was named ‘Player of the Week’ after netting his hat-trick as well as being included in the ESPFA ‘Team of the Week’ in #MatchweekOne.

How it works: Every week, all ESPFA team’s coaches submit their three best performers from that week’s fixture. Their choices are in order of the best-performing students and are used to work out the ‘Team of the Week’. These picks are recorded and used to select the ‘Player of the Term’ nominees by using a points system. All nominations are counted up and the top four highest-scoring players go forward to make up the ‘Player of the Term’ nominations.
