Horbury Town O35’s 4 - Hanging Heaton 0

The best performance so far in the summer league by our Dads Army saw them run away with the contest straight from kick off.

They were sharp, kept their shape and surprisingly looked very fit!

The passing and movement was a joy to watch at times and this allowed Town to control the game and apart from a minor blip in the first half, this was a hard but comfortable win.

Lee Mills opened the scoring after 15 mins with an absolute peach of a strike from the edge of the box which left the HH keeper motionless.

On 20 mins James Taylor hit an unstoppable drive to put his side in command. Great work in the build up play from Skipper Gary Wood, Matthew Mosalski and Darren Rushton.

Town started to play with high confidence and with laser like passing they got in again, this time the excellent Sam Atkinson smashed home after a memorable run from Gaz Wood….. eeh did it make us laugh 😂.

Horbury could afford to miss a penalty but with a really strong back five (The Great Wall of Horbury!) of Marc Keane, Richard Atkinson, Scott Leather, Nick Downward and Gary Wood, Hanging Heaton were unable to create a chance in the second half.

Tee-J made his debut tonight for Town and showed what he can offer, but it was his strike partner and the hard working Marv Grayston who banged home Town’s 4th goal with 8 mins to go after great play from Neil Samardzija.

The win puts Horbury clear at the top of the league with 4 games to go.

MOTM honours could’ve gone to anyone one of the players tonight but the classy Darren Rushton edged it.

Extremely well played lads 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
