🏏🏏Another mixed bag of fortunes!
The 1XI welcomed Woodlands CC to Queens Terrace, with a delay of half an hour the match was reduced to 46 overs a side, Woodlands won the toss and elected to bat. The opening pair made 77 before Matthew Race (1-30) sponsored by Whiterose Direct Ltd took the first wicket. The second wicket stand was eventually curtailed by Henry Pearson (4-38) with the first of his four wickets. Next up Archie Houghton (1-55) took a catch off his own bowling, then a direct throw at the wickets from James Wade sponsored by Aspen Electrical Ltd saw the fourth wicket fall. At 172-4 Woodlands made another 37 runs and ended on 209-8, the last wicket being a runout thrown in by James Keen sponsored by findmy.car.
With 3 quick dismissals Will Wade (20) sponsored by John Mosby found himself at the crease with Henry Pearson (21). It was looking like today was to be the Pearson show but a timely run out from Woodlands put an end to it. Archie Houghton (43) & James Wade (30) valiantly attempted to decrease the runs required but to no avail.

The 2XI travelled to East Leeds CC, the home team won the toss and elected to bat.
Opening bowlers Dan Busfield (1-26) sponsored by Simon Betty & Luke Watson (3-27) sponsored by Brick Bond Northern LTD had East Leeds reeling at 23-4! But with a 5th wicket stand of 72 they looked to be back in the match, unfortunately for them the next 5 wickets went down for only 10 runs. Bowlers Atta Bashir (3-27) & Harvey Winn (3-11) sponsored by R&H Roofing cleaned up, restricting East Leeds to 105 all out. Wicket keeper Tristan Batley-Kyle sponsored by EBK Parent Support & Lee Stevenson sponsored by Thornton Jones Solicitors assisted in the field.
After the interval Ossett’s batters Joe Hitch (27) sponsored by RCM Wellness Centre, Mohammad Hamid (26) & Harvey Winn (25*) took the game to East Leeds with Atta Bashir hitting 14 off 7 balls to win by 6 wickets.
Stevo’s Army are on top of the table just above Birstall and will no doubt be looking to capitalise on a great start to their 2024 season against Heckmondwike & Carlinghow cricket club at home next Saturday.
